Eve's Apple.

Recycling is the least you can do.

Recycling's cool, but reducing is AWESOME.

Eve's Apple.

Now back to your regularly scheduled dose of Holiday Guilt (or HG)

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/07/fireworks-perchlorate-poison.php

Generally, I absolutely love TreeHugger but every now and then I have to say, ecological consequences be damned, I'm going to enjoy myself. That being said, I will not be boycotting any fireworks displays this weekend.
Love you TreeHugger!

Have a happy 4th errbody!

EDIT: I emailed Graham Hill (head dude at TreeHugger) regarding his appearance on Supper Club with Tom Bergeron (on the new Planet Green channel) and he sent me a lovely email back. Neato!

I just added a new item (The Greener Scrubber) to my Etsy: moxrogers.etsy.com

Check it!

It's a dish scrubby made from recycled t-shirts. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried one because I thought "no way can a t-shirt scrub". I was totally wrong. Plus, unlike nasty old sponges or those green Scotch brand thingies, you can just wash it and dry it (like a t-shirt, of course).

Wow

I've been thinking about rainwater collection for irrigating the back yard and my garden for a while now but hadn't brought it up because James tends to brush off anything like that (environmentally friendly/involving more work than "necessary")-I think he was brought up in the American way of consuming everything because you have the freedom to. Last night, James actually mentioned that 1. He'd be interested in recycled glass countertops and 2. The idea of a cistern (with roof water collection) for irrigation sounded awesome. I'm shocked (and off to research that stuff so maybe I can get it :D)

Happy Erf Day (thanks Will Smith)

I hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday Earth Day!
What changes will you make today? In addition to making the items in my etsy shop from upcycled materials ( moxrogers.etsy.com ), I've started taking my version of the "Navy shower" (get your hair and body wet, then turn off the water while you lather up, then back on to rinse off-HUGE water savings)-I have to leave the water on while washing my hair and face and then turn off for the rest, and I've started making dish scrubbies from recycled t-shirts-they're an awesome washer/dryer safe alternative to a sponge, and they really get the job done (they'll be in my etsy shop soon). I've also got the beginnings of a great compost pile.I recommend trying the "Navy shower" to everyone, composting if you can(and stop by my etsy shop too!).
Unplug all your appliances (especially those that have absolutely no reason to be plugged in all the time, like your toaster or blender), and print in 2-sided mode today-anything you can do to have less of an impact on the environment.
